“Kerplunk.” A sound that almost seems humorous. And yet today, we look at how this simple sound affected the lives of two different men, thousands of years apart. Using 2 Kings 6 as our base text, we discover how each of us can experience our own “Kerplunk” moment. Something changes. Something falls apart. Something we were depending on suddenly disappears beneath the surface…even when we thought we were doing everything right. So what do we do when we come across one of these moments in our lives? And perhaps more importantly, who do we take our seemingly insignificant problems to when it seems God has so much more important things to deal with? Does God really care about the little things? When faced with overwhelming odds, or a situation that seems far beyond what you can handle, what do you do? Often, our first instinct is to begin orchestrating an escape route. We try to calculate a way to victory. Or sometimes, we simply run away from the problem altogether. But how should we handle our fears Biblically? Today, John Grams takes us to 2 Chronicles 20, where we find King Jehoshaphat facing not one, not two, but three armies coming against him. The odds seem impossible. The threat is real. And Jehoshaphat knows that neither his strength nor his strategy will be enough. We continue our Walk with Jesus as we follow the Master and His disciples back to the familiar town of Bethany. There, in the middle of a joyful celebration, Mary does something that leaves everyone in the room speechless. She breaks open an expensive bottle of perfume and pours it over the head and feet of Jesus. Almost immediately, the practical minds of those watching are filled with criticism and disgust. What they see as a reckless waste, Jesus calls something altogether different. In fact, He makes several remarkable declarations about Mary's act that have echoed through history.
